If your looking on Craigslist or Facebook marketplace or somewhere else buyer beware!
almost every stove needs some kind of welding or replacement of parts, these get expensive fast.
most stoves I find online are over priced and broken or missing pieces, after 100+ years of use these old stoves need to be taken apart cleaned on the inside where the smoke goes and re sealed, the old caulking if any is left gets dry and falls out, rust builds in the joints of the abutting panels and they crack and break off, these are things most people don’t know about and if your not looking for it can be overseen and not noticed until your kitchen is full of smoke because it’s leaking room air into the flue or there’s a rats nest inside that you can’t see.
sometimes you can get a good deal from a private sale but look hard at the stove bring a flash light and a mirror, call me I might be able to come look at it with you.
Don’t be afraid to walk away there are still tons of stoves out there.
