We are a small stove shop located in the Cornish General store in Cornish flat New Hampshire
Currently we are so busy we try to open the showroom every other Sat however, my time is often better spent in the shop rather than sitting around waiting for a walk in, I can make appointments pretty much anytime, just give me a call or send a email. we are in the process of building a new shop with a showroom attached after this is complete we will have set hours.
With things the way they are in the economy, we understand that not everyone will have the money to purchase a stove, but may still have the need for one. Starting July 1st, 2022 we will be considering gold, silver, firearms and ammunition, as well as farm raised meats and produce, and/or canned goods, as partial or full payment on a case by case basis. We have scales for bullion, and a C&R FFL for firearms that are over 50 years old, and if its a newer item we have a regular FFL on standby.
In recent Months we have seen a few fly by night operations pop up offering “cosmetic restorations” starting at $150! Don’t be fooled, these outfits simply wire brush the outside and spray paint the stove I’ve Even seen them spray paint the trim Silver. Generally speaking if you think your stove needs a “cosmetic restoration” it likely needs a actual restoration And contact me or another professional..
We specialize in the sales and restoration of antique, cast iron stoves from New England. This includes brands such as Glenwood, Crawford, Stewart, Magee, Herald, Atlantic, Kineo, Smith and Anthony and Clarion.
We do not do any gas stove work, if you have a dual fuel stove that needs to be restored I can do the solid fuel side and cap off the gas before it leaves my shop most are illegal and the liability is just too high.
Whether it’s your grandmothers kitchen range, or your in the market for a new to you stove, we are here to help make it happen.
We have over 300 stoves in stock scattered in different barns around the area, Everything from wood and coal cookstoves, wood parlors, wood or coal oak style stoves and base heaters.
Currently we have 8-10 restored stoves in stock, we Can finished them as they are ordered as well but depending on our schedule it may take a few months before we can get to it.
We have over 400 stoves in stock, if your looking for something in particular give us a call, chances are if we don't have it we can find it.
I get phone calls and emails daily about buying a stove that was in the house when they bought it or grams old stove in the barn. I do buy some if I can, unfortunately a lot people watch American pickers or look at web pages and think their rusty hulk in the corner is “rare” and worth $2000, most stoves are not rare, just because you haven’t seen one or many doesn’t make it rare, foundry’s didn’t just make a few of anything. For me to sell a stove for $1500-3500 I need to buy it for $100-400, it’s takes a lot of time to restore a stove, eight to 15 bags of sand blast sand at $13.50 a bag, nickel plating is expensive, the special welding rod and wire is $90 a pound, it adds up quick.
Delivery and pick up
If you have a stove for us to restore but don’t have a way to get it here I can come pick it up restore it and return it, we charge $1.75 Per mile for a 100 Radius of my shop, any further distances will be discussed as needed. if your buying a stove from me delivery is available if needed.
Cookware
We have a selection of vintage cast iron pots, pans and new grills. The grills I have made by a foundry from one of my originals from the 1880s you remove the two lids and Eye from over the fire box and drop this in their place, little to no smoke and will give you the summer time flavors in the dead of winter. vintage pans very in price over 100 in stock new broiler grills are $195 plus shipping
Butterfly lifter’s
We sent our original “novelty lift” lifter out and had it recast, this lifter lifts all 3 pieces over the firebox on a cookstove for adding wood to the fire. I have them made 10 at a time and generally have them in stock $98 each
Oven thermometer’s
Some thermometers work better than others, for example Glenwood made a earlier and a later one, the early ones have 3 brass rods inside that expand and make the needle move, over the year rust builds up and makes the needle stay at a random temperature the later ones have a coiled spring like a modern thermometer and seem to always work fine, the early ones if complete can be rebuild so they work and look as good as they did 100 years ago, it’s a Rather time consuming procedure but the finish product is worth the time. Other manufacturers are rebuildable as well if complete, many have the same brass rods as mentioned above and others have a spring that controls them.
Custom made stove pipe
Many old stove take long forgotten sizes, to help fill this void in the market we have searched and found all the turn of the century tooling to make the pipe these stoves require, wither it’s oval or round or 7” at the bottom and 5” at the top we can make it. 7”-6”x30” $90 7”-6”x12” $60 6”1/4”x6 x30” “Crawford” $90 8 1/4”x8 12”. Vermont castings defiant $60
Custom made ash pans
Along with the tooling to make specialty stove pipe we also bought the tooling to make custom ash pans in house, these are heavy gauge pans with double crimped edges for durability and will last many years
Parts
In 2019 and again in 2022 we purchased a total of four separate stove shops that had gone out of business. Not only did we acquire 150 stoves, but several tractor trailer loads of parts and parts stoves. Many of the parts stoves are still intact and waiting to be dismantled.
We have many original patterns from the Portland Stove Company for the Queen Atlantic and the Saint Nicholas base heater. We don’t have a ton of parts in stock, however we can have new parts made with the patterns. Contact us with your needs.
Display and prop stoves
We have saved many early or unique stoves that should never be used for heat again however they still look the part, these can be bought or rented for plays, museums, decoration in a old general store or even movie and television props.
We have many stoves in stock that didn’t make it to the page, and some here have already been sold. Feel free to call, text or email us with what your looking for.
